  2. Allowable Loads assume the use of a load distribution member (spreader bar) between hoist points.
  3. The spacing of hoist points is to be controlled by the weight of the panel and approved by the designer.
  4. Allowable loads indicated on the table(s) are for force in a single direction only. The designer shall use the combined forces check as required by AISI S100 if more than one force is applied to the connection.
  5. The nominal strength of the screw must be at least 3.75 times the allowable load.
  6. Screw shear capacities are based on allowable strength design (ASD) and include a safety factor of 3.0.

Screw shear values are based on the SSMA Screw Table with the following notes:

    1. The allowable loads are based on the steel properties of the members being connected, per NASPEC with AISI S100-07/S2-10 supplement.
    2. The nominal strength of the screw must be at least 3.75 times the allowable loads.
    3. Values include a 3.0 factor of safety.
    4. Penetration of screws through joined materials should not be less than 3 exposed threads. Screws should be installed and tightened in accordance with the screw  manufacturer’s recommendations.
    5. Allowable loads indicated on the table(s) are for force in single direction only. If more than one force is applied to the connection, the designer shall provide the combined forces check as required by NASPEC with 2004 supplements.
    6. It is the responsibility of the designer to check the bending in the short leg of this clip.
    7. Details above indicate screw locations. Not all screw locations will have pre punched holes, refer to product drawing.

  2. The allowable loads are based on the steel properties of the members being connected, per AISI S100.
  3. The nominal strength of the screw must be at least 3.75 times the allowable loads.
  4. Values include a 3.0 factor of safety.
  5. Penetration of screws through joined materials should not be less than three exposed threads. Install and tighten screws in accordance with the screw manufacturer’s recommendations.
  6. Allowable loads indicated on the table(s) are for force in single direction only. The designer shall use the combined forces check as required by AISI S100 if more than one force is applied to the connection.

SCAFCO’s secure plate header gusset (HG) is designed to provide a stiffened attachment of two individual members. Its unique design transfers the vertical load through a rigid connection that is far superior than traditional methods of construction.

The header gusset contributes to the headers web crippling and shear capacity, allowing the header to withstand larger loads and decrease the chance of possible failure from job site connections.

Screw shear values are based on the SSMA Screw Table with the following notes:

  1. Allowable loads have not been increased for wind, seismic activity, or other factors.
  2. Screw spacing and edge distance shall not be less than 3 x d (d=nominal screw diameter).
  3. The allowable loads are based on the steel properties of the members being connected, per AISI Section E4.
  4. When connecting materials of different thicknesses or tensile strength (Fu), the lowest applicable values should be used.
  5. Attachment from the clip to the structural to be designed by others.
  6. Values include a 3.0 factor of safety.
  7. Applied loads may be multiplied by 0.75 for seismic or wind loading, per AISI Section A5.1.3
  8. Penetration of screws through joined materials should not be less than three exposed threads. Install and tighten screws in accordance with the screw manufacturer’s recommendations.
